German tourism entrepreneur Bernd Kroening, with extensive experience in the inbound tourism and hotel operations sector in Colombia, Panama, and Venezuela, design his strategy for each country around the most emblematic destinations in each region. For this reason, he and his colombian wife Andrea Munozthey chose San Agustín in the department of Huila, both as a starting point for their hotel operations and to offer their international clientele a non-traditional destination from which to begin their discovery of modern Colombia, which is attracting new trends in global tourism.
The pre-Hispanic sculptures of San Agustín and the mystery surrounding the people who built them make this a mystical destination. Right there, at the top of the hill where the Primavera coffee farm is located, the "MONASTERIO San Agustín Boutique Hotel" opened in December 2016, with capacity for up to 40 people.
Guests will feel an immediate connection to this Huila region through the hotel's architectural design, the 360° views from the observation tower, a visit to the coffee plantation and its processing during harvest time, the service of local staff specially trained by the hotel owners, the Colombian fusion cuisine in its cozy restaurant, and a visit to the Coffee Museum, located in the farm's original traditional house.
Finally, you can't miss a visit to the San Agustín and Tierra Adentro Archaeological Parks, as well as other cultural and tourist attractions in the area.
